Rain!

It finally rained today. That's good news and bad news. It's good because the native plants need it, but it's bad because verbesina needs it. The non-natives have been drying up and we've been able to catch up on some of our spraying areas. Now, I'm expecting a big growth spurt and the plants that were dying are going to perk up. Oh well, we just keep on doing what we can.

This little albatross chick found an interesting spot to sit when we finished chainsawing at Turtle Beach yesterday. Albatrosses really are funny birds. I'm going to miss them in 6 weeks.

I think that birdie was an addict needing his fix - why else would he want to sit next to a gas tank? D.

I'm going to miss you in 6 weeks. I hope you consider keeping up this blog, wherever you end up. You brighten my days.

I doubt if I'll keep it up since there aren't too many places that I could write something every day. Even at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame it was only worth writing about every 2 weeks or so.

Pete - You're leaving in six weeks? Hmm . . . I guess that is about a year from when you arrived last year right around the June 4 festivities. I certainly hope we get out there before you leave! I would hate to miss seeing you again! Either way, definitely keep in touch. Hmm . . . maybe someone else will start a blog - I would consider that . . . You should suggest that around to people - it's a great tool for publicity around the world for the NWR and the Monument just like the blogs they do on the NOAA ships. Maybe they could make it a volunteer project . . .
